Tell us about the Opportunity / What is it?

The opportunity is for sponsorship support within the framework of the Liverpool Half Marathon 2009 event. Sports brand Mizuno is working with the event in 2009 / 10 and additional involvement is sought to help raise the profile and appeal of the event. Opportunities include media support and associated lifestyle or non - conflicting sports brand backing. The opportunity will deliver extensive brand exposure before and after the event.

What is the Marketing Objective?

M.O. is to raise the profile and appeal of the event and use the city as an attraction as well as the event itself. Target of 15% increase in uptake to secure in the region of 7,500 participants and then 10,000 in years 2 / 3. The Beatles theme and redevelopment of the city are key components in the plan.

How does it work?

The event is one of seven races in a portfolio and all are cross sold to the previous participants and newcomers to the sport. This process is continual and updated regularly. Current entries for the seven events are in the region of 25,000.

Who's used it in the past?

Mizuno were the first organisation to support the event in 2007. Additional sponsors are now being sought because of the increasing profile of the city and the willingness of runners to travel to key destinations.
