Tell us about the Opportunity / What is it?

Students represent a £13bn pa industry in the UK and the average student has £10k disposable income annually. Students are frequently cash-rich and time-rich, and Itchy offers a direct route the them at the times they are most relaxed and in a social environment. Students spend 6.3 hours a day, on average, socialising with friends, and their favourite place to do so is in the student union, which 90% visit at least 2-3 times a week.

What is the Marketing Objective?

Build awareness of your brand, or advertise your latest offers, with the highly impressionable student consumer. With 87% of first year students living away from home for the first time, they are making purchasing decisions that they've never been able to - or had to - make before. University is the ideal time to turn the next adult generation on to your brand.

How does it work?

Backlit scrolling poster boards are positioned in the areas of longest dwell time in the student union - the bars (74 minutes) and cafes (25 minutes). This gives the students ample time to register the message and even to discuss it with their friends, adding reinforcement. Scrolling posters are twice as eye-catching as static (we post 3 faces max), and the A0 size is best suited to internal spaces and also positioned at eye level for maximum impact.
