The Tour is a road show that will run in the school holidays providing activity, fun & enjoyment for youngsters around Britain.

Tell us about the Opportunity / What is it?

Road show Tour run in the school summer holidays providing activity, fun and enjoyment for youngsters around Britain. The Tour will also act as a recruitment vehicle for local athletics and sports clubs represented at each Tour venue. - The Tour will showcase 4 sports; athletics, hockey, basketball & cricket - Three weeks in duration, covering 6 different venues with 2 days at each location. The proposed venues are Glasgow, London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Manchester and Cardiff.

What is the Marketing Objective?

The perfect platform to engage with families and get corporate messages on the kitchen table of homes all around the country.

How does it work?

Dame Kelly Holmes is Britain’s most famous Olympic athlete; she is perfectly placed to provide a credible & inspirational ambassador to help inspire increased activity levels & participation among young people. With the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the promotion of sport, in the UK, particularly athletics, is paramount . The aim of the Tour is to provide children with the best sporting experience possible, with a view to educate and encourage them to lead a healthy lifestyle with activities that have fun at their heart and group learning at their core.

Who's used it in the past?

We intend to Launch ‘On Tour with Kelly’ in 2006. Dame Kelly Holmes currently has an athletics development project up and running called ‘On Camp with Kelly’. This involves Kelly mentoring a group of promising middle distance runners through the winter and summer and going warm weather training with them. Norwich Union is the Title Sponsor and the initiative was an enormous success in 2005. Kelly now wants to focus her attention on a younger age group.
