Tell us about the Opportunity / What is it?

MEmusic from metro.co.uk is currently looking for a partner for their Online and On Tour competition. The aim is to find the next big music act in 2009. Unsigned acts can upload their tracks and earn money through user downloads on MEmusic. We recruit the unsigned acts through the paper and on-line. The top 10 will be put to a public vote and the top 5 go into a live grand final in front of a panel of expert judges. The prize is TBC - last year's prize was a 7 day UK tour supporting Dodgy.

What is the Marketing Objective?

Build awareness of your brand amongst young Metro readers and become associate with new music.

How does it work?

The partnership package includes co-branded promo ads in-paper - in association message and branding on an estimated 1,000 scc 6 weeks, including 2 full pages, in association message on editorial support pieces where logo used - space TBC, logo usage on front cover flash to launch competition (at editor's discretion) and much more. Plus online the partner will receive 'in association with' branding on the MEmusic masthead, skyscraper ad for the duration of the sponsorship and 2 million co-branded ROS ad impressions across Associated Newspapers network.

Who's used it in the past?

This is the first time a partnership package has been offered for the MEmusic Online and On Tour competition.

Features / Benefits

The sponsor will benefit from additional editiorial support such as front cover flash and launch news announcement, subsequent news reminders inc call-to-action on voting, editorial announcement of winners, further coverage of headline act and support act (depending on who they are) - ideas could include following them recording their single etc plus online editorial on metro.co.uk.
