Taking Comedy Seriously! The first ever International Comedy Film Festival on the English Riviera.

Tell us about the Opportunity / What is it?

This is a brand new festival celebrating screen comedy in the birthplace of British humour - the English Riviera. There'll be screenings of new and classic comedy films from around the world, drive-in movies, events, talks, competitions and star-studded soirees. What is the Marketing Objective?

Sponsorship of this festival gives the perfect opportunity to raise awareness of your brand at various levels through association with an up-and-coming cultural event. There has already been mass media interest from around the world in one of the film premieres to be screened, which stars Joss Stone, and press coverage will continue before, during and after the event. The English Riviera (Torquay, Paignton and Brixham) attracts millions of visitors every year, and we expect volumes of people to participate.

How does it work?

The festival will showcase comedy films from around the world in a selection of cinemas and theatres, as well as introducing many other film-related initiatives. The general public are encouraged not only to attend screenings, but to get involved on a more practical level through various competitions, including a short film competition entitled Eat My Shorts. This results in a number of opportunities for branding, whether through smaller, targeted campaigns based on specific events, or as an overall sponsor with coverage throughout the whole festival.

Who's used it in the past?

2008 will see the very first ER International Comedy Film Festival. We have very good reason to believe that it will evolve into a real player on the international film festival circuit. After all, Cannes was once just a small fishing village and Sundance is in the middle of nowhere! We would like to encourage potential sponsors to give this the "Lights, Camera, Action!" approach from the very beginning and watch it take off!

Features / Benefits

Not only will there be various opportunities for increasing brand awareness - both small and large - but there will also be many occasions to showcase the company's products. This event could be the spring-board (or should that be clapper board?) that you have been waiting for, the chance to show yourselves in a different light and give your clients something to smile about! Should you become the main sponsor, any mention of the event title will be followed by "Sponsored by..."
